The House of Representatives has granted a travel clearance request from Davao City 1st district Rep. Paolo Duterte, with the Netherlands being among the countries that he would be visiting in the coming days.

"In relation to the letter request for Travel Clearance recently submitted to your office on March 11, 2024 through electronic mail, this Representation seeks the issuance of a revised Travel Clearance for my personal trip to the Netherlands and Japan from the 12th of March to 15th of April, 2025," read a copy of Rep. Duterte’s request that was acquired by the Manila Bulletin on Wednesday, March 12.

The Davao solon addressed his request to House Speaker Martin Romualdez. It has reportedly been granted.

The Netherlands is the site of The Hague, where the International Criminal Court (ICC) is based. Rep. Duterte reportedly flew out of the country Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, March 11, the International Police (Interpol) arrested former president Rodrigo Duterte in connection with his crimes against humanity charge before the United Nations (UN)-backed court. 

Rep. Duterte is the son of ex-president Duterte. His sibling, Vice President Sara Duterte, also reportedly left for The Hague on Wednesday morning.

A travel clearance is an requirement for government workers who want to leave the country. 

The House of Representatives is on recess until June 2.
