Easterlies to bring rains, thunderstorms over parts of the Philippines
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, March 11 said that the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, known as the easterlies, will be the dominant weather system across the country over the next 24 hours.
In its weather bulletin, PAGASA reported that cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will affect Aurora and Quezon.
Flash floods or landslides may affect these provinces, particularly during moderate to heavy rainfall, PAGASA warned.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA also advised the public to remain vigilant as severe thunderstorms could trigger flash floods or landslides, especially in areas vulnerable to such hazards.
Weather specialist Obet Badrina also noted that the northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” may again affect parts of Luzon next week. However, it is expected to continue to weaken, he said.
The onset of the warm and dry season in the country is expected to begin this month and last until May.
