Cloudy, rainy conditions prevail over several areas due to 3 weather systems — PAGASA
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, March 10 said scattered rains and isolated thundestorms may affect parts of the country due to the influence of three weather systems—the shear line, easterlies, and northeast monsoon.
PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms will prevail over the Cordillera Administrative Region, mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Albay due to the shear line, which forms from the collision of cold winds from the northeast monsoon (amihan) and warm breezes from the Pacific Ocean (easterlies).
Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen, Eastern Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms because of the easterlies.
PAGASA warned of the potential for flash floods or landslides in areas affected by the shear line and easterlies, particularly during moderate to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, Batanes and the Babuyan Islands will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the amihan.
The rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought about by the shear line or easterlies.
PAGASA also cautioned that severe thunderstorms may lead to flash floods or landslides, especially in vulnerable areas.
