Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) have arrested three Vietnamese for allegedly engaging in stem cell therapy and dermatology-related procedures in a raid in Imus, Cavite.
The operation was conducted a few days after CIDG operatives also nabbed two fake Chinese doctors in Parañaque City.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said the Cavite operation was based on the confirmed intelligence reports that the three Vietnamese doctors are performing medical procedures without proper permits.
Torre said the three suspects introduced themselves as doctors and were monitored to have been performing injection of stem cell, hair regrowth, body sculpture, bio-stimulation collagen and derma related procedures to their patients and clients .
“However, they failed to present the required medical licenses and permits to dispense medical products, operate a medical facility, or practice medicine in the Philippines,” said Torre.
“This is part of our intensified campaign against all criminalities including frauds and illegal medical practices,” he added.
Confiscated from the foreign suspects were numerous boxes of assorted medicines, medical and cosmetic products and related devices.
Also discovered and seized were notebooks documenting medical procedures, prescription medications, and receipts issued to clients were also seized.
Torre said the three foreigners are facing violations of Republic Act 2382 (The Medical Act of 1959).
