Pray for just, lasting peace this Ramadan, OPAPRU chief asks Muslims

The Holy Month of Ramadan is an opportune time for Muslims nationwide to pray for just and lasting peace in the country, Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said Saturday, March 1.
Galvez expressed solidarity with the whole Muslim Ummah (community) in observing the sacred month as the crescent moon heralds the arrival of Ramadan.
“We recognize the profound spiritual significance of this occasion for the Muslim faith as we embark on this sacred journey of fasting, worship and reflection, and acts of charity,” he said.
“As the Muslim community reflects on the wisdom and guidance of the Islamic faith during this Holy Month, may this also be a time for us to offer our collective prayers for a just and lasting peace in our country,” he added.
Ramadan will start in the country on Sunday, March 2, after the crescent moon was not sighted last Friday.
In Islam, Ramadan commences with the appearance of the new crescent moon. The religious observance is marked by fasting, charity, and prayer.
Galvez said Muslims around the world observe the solemn period to strengthen their connections with Allah and renew their commitment to sacrifice, commitment, and unity.
But beyond its spiritual dimension, the peace adviser stressed that Ramadan is a “powerful reminder” of the values that Filipinos share: compassion, solidarity, and the pursuit of peace.
“During this blessed month, may you and your loved ones be blessed with health, happiness, and prosperity, and may our shared bonds of love, peace, and harmony grow stronger,” Galvez said.
