Nakakabahala: Isko airs concern over rise of crimes in Manila

Manila mayoral aspirant Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Saturday, March 1, aired his concern over the reported rise of criminality in the city, particularly snatching and robbery incidents.
"Ikinakabahala ngayon ng mga taga-Maynila sa pagikot-ikot ko kasi laging laman na naman ang Maynila ng news outlet sa telebisyon at radyo pagkagabi dala ng mga nangyayari sa Taft Avenue, sa Kalaw, sa R-10, at sa iba’t-ibang sulok ng Maynila na nagbabalikan itong mga tolongges na holdaper, snatcher, jumper – ‘yung mga umaakyat sa truck (Manileños have become more worried about their safety and security due to the rise of crimes along Taft Avenue, Kalaw, R-10, and other parts of Manila that have caught the attention of television and radio news outlets. These include holduppers, snatchers, and even those jumping onto trucks to steal their goods and other items)," Domagoso said in a radio interview with DZRH.
"Even the Senate, their attention were caught na inimbestigahan pa ang sitwasyon sa R-10 (The crimes even caught the Senate's attention, prompting them to launch an investigation regarding the situation in R-10)," he added.
The former Manila mayor underscored the need for the city's local chief executive to create a clear sense of direction and to ensure that police and other uniformed personnel are focused on maintaining peace and order in their areas of responsibility.
Present Them All
During his tenure as mayor from 2019 to 2022, Domagoso has made it a practice to present arrested criminals to the community to assure them that the city government is taking action to apprehend criminals and wrongdoers in the city. He stressed that it is important for the people to see that criminals will be caught and held accountable by the law.
Domagoso added that this practice also boosts the morale of business owners and investors in the city as it assures them that their livelihoods remain unaffected, allowing people to work freely and without fear.
"As trust in the local government grows, businesses thrive, leading to higher tax revenues and improved public services," he stressed.
The former mayor explained that this practice is not only done to arrested criminals, but also to police officers of the Manila Police District (MPD) who engage in criminal activities, noting his "one-strike" policy wherein policemen involved in crimes are immediately relieved from duty.
