Domestic workers in Region IV-A are set to receive an increase in their monthly wage rate starting March 7, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has announced.
Wage Order No. RB-IVA-DW-05, issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board IV-A (RTWPB), mandates a wage increase ranging from P750 to P1,750 for domestic workers across the region.
Under the order, those employed in cities and first-class municipalities will see their salaries rise from P6,000 to P6,750, while those in other municipalities will receive P6,750, up from P5,000.
The adjustment applies to all domestic workers, including house helpers, nannies, cooks, gardeners, laundry personnel, and other household staff.
“After a thorough review of consultations, public hearings, socio-economic factors, and the needs of domestic workers, the Board deemed it necessary to increase the prevailing minimum wage rates,” DOLE stated.
The wage order covers both live-in and live-out domestic workers, with wages to be paid in cash at least once a month, with no deductions except those required by law.
RTWPB IV-A also encourages employers and domestic workers to explore a competency-based pay system that could allow for wages above the prescribed minimum.
DOLE has urged employers to comply with the new wage rates, warning that failure to do so may result in penalties under Republic Act 10361, the Domestic Workers Act.
Employers found in violation of the wage order will face legal consequences.
