Bam, Kiko go on house-to-house sorties with Risa for Senate comeback

Senatorial candidates Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan went on a house-to-house campaign on Saturday, March 1, at Barangay Hulo Ferry Station, Mandaluyong City.

They were joined by Senator Risa Hontiveros and Akbayan first nominee Chel Diokno as they went around the residential areas.

Residents warmly welcomed the four and greeted them upon alighting from a Pasig River Ferry at its station in Barangay Hulo from Makati City.

In a Facebook live video, Pangilinan was seen handing out baller IDs as bystanders greeted him and his team.

The group was also seen taking selfies and shaking hands with supporters.

Aquino, who said he had already went to 12 provinces in the first two weeks of the campaign period, shared plans to go around the country to talk with as many Filipinos as he can reach.

“Kailangan sipagan pa, kailangang suyurin pa, manligaw pa sa mga kababayan natin. Kita naman dito (Mandaluyong), hindi kami nag-iisa (We need to work harder, go to farther places, persuade our fellowmen. We can see here in that we are not alone),” he said in an interview.

Meanwhile, Aquino shared plans to expand the provision for allowances for students under the Free College Law if he makes a successful Senate comeback in the May 2025 polls.

He insisted on the importance of enough funds for the allowances of students provided under the Free College Law to help in their daily needs.

“Kailangan iyong libreng pabaon mapondohan din para iyong pang-araw-araw na gastos ng mga bata, mabigyan din ng tulong. Siyempre ang magandang i-partner diyan, hindi lang libreng edukasyon, kundi siguradong trabaho (The free allowance should have enough funds for the everyday needs of the students, they can have enough help. A good partner for that is not only free education, but guaranteed employment),” he added.

The allowance will help in food, transportation, and internet needs of the students and will alleviate the financial responsibilities of their families, Aquino stated.

Though both trailing in pre-election surveys, Aquino’s and Pangilinan’s camps believed there is a fighting chance for them as survey results showed them now ranking on the 11th to 14th position of the Magic 12.
