Rubilen Amit bucked a shaky start and outshone Chinese Taipei’s Wan-Ling Wang, 2-4, 4-3, 4-3, 4-2, to punch her ticket in the semifinal round of the 2025 Las Vegas Women’s Open at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Nevada Saturday, March 1 (Manila time).

The 43-year-old Amit displayed her veteran poise and frustrated her younger rival to arrange a semis duel against Austrian Jasmin Ouschan in the tournament that offers a $22,500 (around P1.3 million) prize for the winner.
Ouschan obliterated Argentina’s Soledad Ayala, 4-0, 4-3, 3-4, 4-1, in the quarterfinal.
Before barging into the semis, Amit decimated Americans Ada Lio (4-2, 4-0) and Briana Lane (4-2, 4-0) then bowed to her fellow Filipina bet in Chezka Centeno (4-3, 4-2) to get relegated into the losers’ bracket.
There, the two-time WPA world champion regained her form and humbled Singaporean Silviana Lu (4-0, 4-1) to enter the Last 16 where she earned a hard-fought win over UK’s Kelly Fisher (3-4, 4-2, 4-1, 4-2).
Meanwhile, Centeno’s back-to-back title bid has come to an end as she succumbed to Taipei’s Chieh-Yu Chou, 4-3, 4-0, 4-0, in the quarterfinal stage.
