12 hurt as dump truck rams 8 vehicles in Batangas

TUY, Batangas – Twelve individuals were injured and eight vehicles were damaged by wayward dump truck  in Barangay Luntal here on Saturday morning, March 1.

Police said the dump truck with license plates NAV-6092 driven by Jake Giab Esperon, 48, was traversing the descending portion of the road when it lost its brakes and crashed into a Batman Star Express bus driven by Florencio Ramos, 49, and seven parked and unoccupied vehicles – three multi-purpose vehicles (MPV), a car, two motorcycles, and a tricycle – before it stopped in front of a convenience store.

Police said the driver of the dump truck and 11 bus passengers were injured. They were taken to the Don Manuel Lopez Memorial District Hospital in Balayan, Batangas and Apacible Memorial District Hospital in Nasugbu, Batangas.

The truck was on its way to Mendez, Cavite from Calaca City, Batangas when the incident happened.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
