Truck driver visiting detained uncle yields shabu, bladed weapons
BACOLOD CITY – A 34-year-old truck driver was caught with suspected shabu and improvised bladed weapons while visiting his uncle detained at the Talisay City Jail in Talisay City, Negros Occidental in Saturday, Feb. 8.

Jail Chief Insp. Kevin Bonilla, warden of the Talisay City Jail, said a jail guard conducting a routine inspection on visitors intercepted the suspect with a sachet of suspected shabu in his right pocket. The contraband weighed 0.05 grams and worth P340.
The suspect also yielded two bladed weapons hidden in his pair of slippers. The incident was reported to the police who apprehended the suspect.
Bonilla said that the suspect’s uncle was jailed for a drug offense. The suspect was visiting his uncle for the first time and denied ownership of the illegal drugs.
Charges for possession of dangerous drugs have been filed against the suspect.
Bonilla said that the Talisay City Jail remains fully committed to upholding and enforcing stringent security measures, ensuring that all necessary protocols are strictly followed to prevent any illegal activities from taking place within the facility.
These efforts are part of their ongoing mission to maintain a safe and secure environment for personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), he added.
