Security guard, tricycle driver arrested in drug busts in Taguig

A security guard and a tricycle driver were arrested by the police after yielding shabu worth nearly P489,000 in two buy-bust operations in Taguig on Feb. 7 and 8. 

On Feb. 7, the Taguig Police conducted the sting operation in Barangay Maharlika that led to the arrest of a suspect identified as alias Fahad, a 29-year-old male security guard and resident of the barangay. 

The police seized 51.7 grams of shabu valued at P351,560, P500 buy-bust money, and 27 pieces of counterfeit money.

Fahad, tagged by the police as a high value individual (HVI), will be charged for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

In a separate operation on Feb. 8, the Taguig Police arrested another suspect identified as alias Jon-Jon, 40, tricycle driver in Barangay Rizal

Operatives from the Taguig Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) confiscated nine sachets of shabu weighing 20.2 grams valued at P137,360 and a genuine P500 bill used as buy-bust money. 

He will also be charged for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165.

Section 5 of the law refers to the “sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution and transportation of dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals.”  

Section 11 is the possession of dangerous drugs. The two suspects are under police custody. 

Brig. Gen. Manuel Abrugena Jr., District Director of the Southern Police District, said, “These successful operations are a testament to our unwavering commitment to eradicating illegal drugs in our communities. We urge the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Together, we can create a safer and drug-free environment for everyone.”
