The Korean films “Hitman 2” and “Dark Nuns” have reached break-even point as they led the weekend box office in South Korea.
According to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), based on the weekend box office from Feb. 7 to 8, “Hitman 2,” released on Jan. 22 starring Kwon Sang-woo, grabbed first place with 201,557 in total admissions and gross of $1.32 million.
Since its opening, “Hitman 2” recorded 2.31 million in total admissions, reaching its break-even point of 2.3 million in tickets sold when the equivalent revenue equaled the production cost. The film has grossed a total of $15 million as of Feb. 9.

The thriller “Dark Nuns,” starring Song Hye-kyo and Jeon Yeo-been, placed fourth on the weekend box office with 83,540 in total admissions and gross of $560,605.
Since its opening on Jan. 24, “Dark Nuns” has garnered 1.6 million in total admissions, its break-even point. It has grossed $10.65 million as of Feb. 9.
Korean media reported that initially, the break-even point for “Dark Nuns” was estimated to be at 2.3 million moviegoers but signing overseas pre-sales in 160 countries and territories, the break-even point was lowered to 1.6 million in total admissions.
