BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya - A 42-year-old barangay councilor was killed and his helper was injured in a vintage bomb explosion in Barangay Almaguer South, this town, on Saturday, Feb. 8.

Police Capt. Julius Abon, town deputy chief of police, identified the fatality as Johnny
of Barangay Baan, Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya and also a contractor.
Investigation said Johnny and his helper dug up a vintage bomb in their project site in Barangay San Antonio North, Bambang and brought the ordnance to a house for dismantling.
The victims were taking the ordnance apart when it exploded.
Johnny died on the spot and his companion was injured and taken to a hospital.
Residents reported the incident as a Liquefied Petroleum Gas tank explosion but police found otherwise in the investigation.

Police urged the people not to touch and inform them of any vintage bomb they find.
The ordnance will be scheduled for proper disposal by the PECU.
