Former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog vehemently denied issuing an online statement favoring the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte by the House of Representatives.

“This is not my account. This is a fake account. I have never made any comment on this matter,” Mabilog said.

An alleged fake Facebook account featuring the name and photo of Mabilog had a statement circulating online that favored the impeachment of  Duterte.

“We welcome the impeachment of Sara Duterte.  It is high time na makulong ang mga Duterte (that the Dutertes are imprisoned). This is their retribution.  Hustisya ni para sa akon kag mga Ilonggo (Justice for fellow Ilonggos). No more war on drugs in Iloilo. I will make sure of that,” the fake Facebook account said.

“May God have mercy on those responsible for creating and using this fake account. Please report this account to Facebook as fraudulent,” Mabilog said.

The fake statement was linked to how Mabilog earned the ire of then President Rodrigo Duterte who accused the then city mayor as a major drug protector.

With the numerous public death threats made by President Duterte, Mabilog left the country in 2017 and sought asylum in the United States. Mabilog returned to the country to clear his name last September.
