Driver locks wife, daughter inside container truck for 3 days
A 48-year-old driver was arrested after his wife and daughter accused him of locking them inside a container truck in Baseco, Manila, for three days.
The Manila Police District (MPD) confirmed the arrest on Sunday, Feb. 9, reporting that the conflict between the husband and wife stemmed from long-standing issues related to jealousy.
According to the police report, the suspect, identified as Alvin Vizcarra, led his wife and their three-year-old daughter to a parked container truck in the Baseco area, where he forcibly locked them inside.
The empty container truck, located in an isolated area of the neighborhood, did not have an accessible way to escape, and the mother and daughter were left trapped.
Authorities were alerted after the wife and daughter were finally allowed to return to their home in Bulacan, three days later.
Upon their return, the wife immediately contacted the police and reported the incident.
She also claimed that before being locked in the truck, she had been physically abused by her husband.
The man was arrested by authorities and is now facing serious charges, including two counts of serious illegal detention and violations under laws protecting women and children from abuse.
