Vice President Sara Duterte simply isn't taking her impeachment by the House of Representatives seriously.

Surigao del Norte 2nd district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers came up with this conclusion after lady official claimed on Friday, Feb. 7 that getting abandoned by one's boyfriend hurts more than getting impeached by Congress.

“Kanya kanya namang pakiramdam ‘yan (To each her own feelings) and we have to give it to her…she’s not taking it seriously. And that’s her right," the House quad-committee (quad-comm) said in reaction to Duterte’s statement.

“And bigay natin sa kanya ‘yon (And let's give it to her) and how she looks at things and how she looks at that particular complaint. Hindi naman natin siya pwedeng masabihan o madiktahan kung ano dapat niyang pakiramdam,” Barbers said.

(We cannot tell her or dictate to her what she should feel.)

The veteran congressman from Mindanao earlier described the duly endorsed and verified impeachmemt complaint as the clear and undeniable expression of the will of the Filipino people, given that 215 or nearly 80 percent of the 306-strong House signed it.

“The impeachment process is not just a political procedure, it is the voice of the Filipino people speaking through their elected representatives,” Barbers said.

‘Ang bawat pirma sa impeachment ay hindi lang boto ng isang kongresista, kundi boses ng milyon-milyong Pilipino na aming kinakatawan. Ang mensahe ng taumbayan ay malinaw: kailangan ang prosesong ito,” he said.

(Each signature on the impeachment complaint represents not just the vote of one congressman, but also the voice of millions of Filipinos whom we represent. The message of the people is clear: this is a necessary process.)

House Secretary General Reginald Velasco said Friday that another 25 House members have sent their signatures to add to the Senate-referred impeachment complaint.
