Ranking officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) lauded President Marcos for extending the tour of duty of Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil as the country’s top cop to four months, saying it is a logical decision amid the ongoing reforms in the organization and the election security implementation for the midterm polls.

In a statement signed by a number of ranking PNP officials, it said President Marcos’ decision reflects his firm commitment to strengthening law enforcement and upholding discipline, integrity, and accountability within the ranks of the police organization.

“It further reinforces our dedication to serving and protecting the Filipino people with the highest standards of professionalism," the statement read.

The statement said significant reforms were already achieved since he assumed the top PNP post in April last year, particularly in significantly reducing the crime rates through intensified anti-criminality operations and swift and effective responses to emerging security concerns.

The officials added that the strengthened community partnerships through increased police visibility and proactive engagements also became visible.

By embracing modern policing strategies and technological innovations, the police officials said Marbil has greatly enhanced the PNP’s capability to address evolving security challenges.

“His steadfast commitment to the rule of law, coupled with his genuine concern for the welfare of both police personnel and the communities they serve, embodies the highest standards of leadership in public service,” the statement read.

Marbil earlier expressed gratitude to President Marcos for the extension of his tour of duty.

“Thank you for our President for the trust and for having confidence in the PNP under my leadership. The four months extension will help us refine and improve the preparations we made for the election,” said Marbil.
