Parañaque City launches local Miss Universe Philippines pageant

The Parañaque City government launched a Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) local competition on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at the Forum I Function Halls of the Solaire Resort and Casino Hotel.
According to Atty. Melanie Soriano-Malaya, head of Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO), the launching of a localized MUPH is an effective platform for making the city even more widely known as the "Mega City By The Bay," a vision that the city government has been seriously working out to become a reality.
The participants of the pageant are the candidates of the city's Ginoo and Binibining Parañaque.
Malaya said the annual search for the city's Ginoong and Binibining Parañaque is a project of the City Tourism Office under the leadership of Mel Alipo-on, and is a training ground to prepare future candidates for the Miss Universe Philippines.
She said winners for the annual search will have the chance to be chosen to represent Parañaque City in the Miss Universe Philippines annual competition.
MUPH Parañaque Local Director Leonora “Kleoh” Viray said Centerpoint Training Services, the private institution that owns the MUPH Paranaque Franchise, will provide training programs to the contestants.
