A man wanted for murder was arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 30 years after the crime was allegedly committed.
According to the police, the crime took place in 1993 in Sta. Ana, Manila, where the suspect, now 52 years old, got into an altercation and allegedly shot the victim.
The suspect reportedly hid in Biliran, Leyte, and later transferred to Barangay Kaligayahan, Quezon City where he now resides.
Col. Francis Siriban said.
The police said the warrant of arrest for the suspect was issued in 1998. He placed 2nd on the list of most wanted persons in QCPD Station 16.
The suspect denied the accusations against him but confessed that he went into hiding.
I didn’t do it. Actually, I was just involved. I was not able to work because they [employers] say that I have a case),” he said.
Authorities said the suspect was able to avoid detection by changing aliases over the years.
The suspect is now under the custody of the QCPD and is awaiting a commitment order from the courts.
