3 cousins shot dead in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Three cousins were gunned down in Barangay Tetuan here before dawn on Friday, Feb. 7.

The Zamboanga City Police Office identified the victims as Anthony James Villanueva, 21; Troy Ducoyan, 24, and Jovert Navarro, 40, all residents of Barangay Talon-Talon, this city.

Investigation disclosed that the victims were on their way home onboard a motorcycle when two Sports Utility Vehicles blocked their path. A man alighted from one of the SUVs and fired at the victims at close range. The vehicles fled toward Alfaro St.

Police found their bodies sprawled near their motorcycle. They were taken to hospitals where they were declared dead. 

Investigation added that the victims were drinking in a nightspot in Barangay Tetuan before the incident and  involved in a heated altercation with a group of men at the parking lot. 

Police did not identify the gunman but have a person of interest based on witnesses’ accounts. A pursuit operation is underway.
