Style Weekend: Your weekend reading haven
Cozy up with a good book at SM Supermalls' Book Nook
Whether you're a dedicated bookworm or just looking for a relaxing way to spend some time, escape into a good book this weekend at SM Supermalls' Book Nook! These cozy spaces offer a quiet haven amidst the bustling mall atmosphere.

SM Supermalls, under the initiative of architect Sheeren Sy, has created two Book Nook locations: one in SM Aura Premier (Taguig City) and the other in The Podium Mall (Mandaluyong City). These inviting spaces are stocked with hundreds of books spanning various genres, from captivating fiction and vibrant comics to insightful arts and helpful self-help titles. Simply browse the shelves, select a book that piques your interest, find a comfortable spot, and immerse yourself in its world. When you're finished, simply return the book to its place and come back anytime.
Already have a book you're itching to read? Book Nook welcomes you. The thoughtfully designed interiors provide a tranquil escape. The SM Aura location boasts warm, wooden aesthetics, while The Podium's Book Nook, designed by renowned architect Royal Pineda, exudes a modern and sophisticated vibe. Pineda envisioned the space as a "forest of knowledge," where visitors can discover and grow.
One of the best perks? Unlike traditional libraries, Book Nook's location within the mall means you're surrounded by a variety of restaurants and cafes. Grab a quick bite, enjoy a cup of coffee or milk tea, and then return to your literary adventure.
Book Nook isn't just a reading spot; it's a hub for promoting literature, arts, and culture. The recent, successful Book Nook Reading Festival at SM Aura featured prominent Filipino authors, including National Artist for Literature Rio Alma, who shared his passion for books and held a book signing. Children's book authors also engaged young readers with captivating reading sessions.
"I came from poverty," shared Rio Alma. "I grew up in a house without books and studied in a school without a library. That is why it is good that SM has this kind of initiative where mall-goers can have access to books. My first access to literary materials before were comics and the Liwayway magazines our neighbor had.”
Continuing its commitment to the arts, SM Aura's Book Nook is currently hosting the Mini Masters in the Making, Grand Art Exhibition until February 8th. This exhibition showcases the diverse works of artists of all ages, allowing them to share their stories and express their unique voices.
Want to contribute to the Book Nook's collection? They gladly accept book donations. Simply bring your gently used books to either location and coordinate with the librarian or security guards. You can also participate in their book swap program. Bring a book in good condition and exchange it for another (without a Book Nook sticker). Books with stickers are part of the permanent collection and are not eligible for swapping. So, head down to your nearest Book Nook this weekend and discover the joy of reading!
Whether you're seeking a quiet escape, a chance to discover new literary worlds, or a place to connect with fellow book lovers, SM Supermalls' Book Nook offers a welcoming haven for readers of all ages. So, this weekend, why not trade screen time for page-turning adventures? Head down to your nearest Book Nook, explore the shelves, and rediscover the magic of reading.
