BAGUIO CITY – The Bureau of Fire Protection reported seven fire incidents from Jan. 1 to Feb. 5 here.

Baguio Fire Marshal Fire Supt. Marisol Odiver said a fire occurred on Feb. 3 and razed an entertainment hub where a 78-year-old grandfather died.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong condoled with the victim’s family and urged the people to boost fire safety practices in their homes and businesses.
City Social Welfare and Development Officer Liza Bulayungan said the fire affected a family of seven and three house sharers.
She said the victim’s wife was admitted to the hospital due to suffocation and was provided P55,000 financial assistance, hygiene and family kits and food packs, and psychological first aid.
The next day, another fire broke out in a general merchandise building in Camp 7. The owner was injured and six tenants were affected. A nearby restaurant was also affected.
Bulayungan said the victims were given relief items and psychological, medical, financial, and emergency shelter assistance.
