All Iloilo solons sign impeach complaint vs VP Sara

Congressmen from the province and city of Iloilo all signed the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday, Feb. 5.

ILONGGO solons who signed the impeachment complaint against Vice President Duterte (clockwise) – Reps. Janette Garin, Michael Gorriceta, Lorenz Defensor, Julienne Baronda, Raul Tupas, and Ferj Biron.  

They are Reps. Janette Loreto-Garin of the Iloilo first district, Michael “Mike” Gorriceta of the Iloilo second district, Lorenz “Noy” Defensor of the Iloilo third district, Ferjenel “Ferj” Biron of the Iloilo fourth district, Raul “Boboy” Tupas of the Iloilo fifth district, Julienne “Jamjam” Baronda of the Iloilo City lone district, Ilonggo party-list Rep.  James “Jojo” Ang Jr. of Uswag Ilonggo, Raoul Danniel Manuel of Kabataan, and Lex Colada of AAMBIS-OWA.

Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte slammed Garin for signing the impeachment complaint. Garin said she signed the impeachment complaint as there may be enough evidence of Vice President Duterte betraying public trust.

“There is clear evidence of violation of our Constitution through betrayal of public trust and other high crimes especially contracting assassins to kill the President,” added Defensor who was selected as one of the prosecutors in the Senate impeachment trial of Vice President Duterte in June.

“The trial will provide the Vice President the proper venue to defend herself and dispute the allegations against her.  Due process will be observed and the rule of law upheld,” said Tupas.

“We, in Congress, saw the need for the Vice President to be held accountable, especially in her statement on getting to assassinate the President – our commander-in-chief.  This causes alarm and a concern for national security,” said  Gorriceta.

“On the part of the House, the prosecution panel can prove if there are solid bases on the allegations. The Vice President on the other hand, can present evidence to refute the allegations. We will know the truth in the impeachment trial of the Senate,” added Tupas.

“She (Vice President) can defend herself against the accusations and help resolve the controversy that has deeply divided the nation,” said Baronda.
