Two members of the “akyat-bahay” gang were nabbed during a follow-up operation conducted by the Novaliches Police Station 4 in Barangay San Agustin Novaliches, Quezon City on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
Based on the police report, the victim, a 37-year-old businesswoman, was startled by a loud noise from her apartment's bedroom and discovered the two suspects who had forcibly entered by dismantling a concrete baluster and the main doorknob and had stolen valuables including cash, gold jewelry, and luxury accessories.

The victim immediately sought help from the neighbors, causing the suspects to flee with the stolen items.
Police identified the suspects as Clarence Simauro, 21, and Angello Bernales, 23, both residents of Barangay San Agustin, Novaliches.
The police conducted a follow-up operation and when they chanced upon the suspects, the latter attempted to escape which resulted in a chase. They were later cornered and arrested.
Recovered from the suspects were a black pouch wallet with P33,000 cash, two 18k Saudi Gold Bracelets worth P36,000, one 18K Saudi Gold Necklace worth P15,000, a black mini vault containing a pouch wallet with P77,000, one 18K Saudi Gold Bracelet worth P12,000, a wristwatch worth P2,500, six pieces of fancy and silver necklaces totaling P1,400, three fancy bracelets worth P600, five pairs of fancy earrings worth P500, a fancy heart pendant worth P100, and two doorknob keys with a total value of P178,000.
During the investigation, the suspects were positively identified by the victim.
Lt. Col. Aljun Belista, Navotas police commander, said the suspects were arrested before for illegal drugs and robbery.
“Yung isang suspek doon may kaso ng Republic Act 9165 or illegal drugs then ‘yung isa may tatlong kaso ‘yung pagnanakaw din robbery, theft, then illegal gambling (One suspect had a case for violation of Republic Act 9165 while the other has three cases of robbery, theft, and illegal gambling),” he said.
The suspect will be charged for Robbery (Akyat-Bahay) under Article 293 of the Revised Penal Code and Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority under Article 151 of the RPC.
