Farmer shot dead in San Carlos City

BACOLOD CITY – A 41-year-old farmer was fatally shot in Sitio Bedio, Barangay Codcod, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Feb. 2.

Police Major Ronald Santillan, deputy chief of the San Carlos City Police Station, identified the victim as Jerry Caballero.

Santillan said Caballero was watching a video on his mobile phone with three companions when he was shot by an unidentified gunman from outside his house.

The victim died from a bullet wound in the face. His companions were unharmed.

Santillan said they already have a person of interest subject to further investigation. He added that grudges are a possible motive in the incident.
