The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas confirmed that the family of Miguela Pocong Barino has asked the NBI-7 to help in the investigation.

Police Col. Arvie Aserre Paraon-Bueno, spokesperson of PRO-7 chief Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, said it is the right of the family to seek help from a law enforcement agency.
The body of Barino was found at the doorstep of her house in Barangay Candabong last Feb. 1. Her severed head was found near her body.
Her body was decomposing when it was discovered by neighbors. Authorities believe that she was dead for 48 hours before she was seen.
Police see no indications of foul play in her death. She did not have external injuries, her house was in order, and cash tucked in her waist was untouched.
Police suspect that animals disturbed her body that caused her head to fall off.
Her family is not convinced that there was no foul play in her death, prompting them to approach the NBI-7.
Bueno said that Barino’s death is still under investigation despite the initial finding that ruled out foul play.
“The investigation is continuing in coordination with the SOCO (Scene-of-the-Crime Operatives). The family’s decision to seek help from the NBI was their right,” Bueno said.
Bueno said the incident should not be a cause for alarm among residents as it is considered an isolated case.
