The Department of Health (DOH) called on persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) to undergo an “Aftercare and Follow-up program’’ to prepare for their reintegration to mainstream society, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said.
On Tuesday, Feb. 4 the DOH-Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH-TRC) Bicutan team conferred with the visited Quezon City Jail-Male Dormitory (QCJMD) with the proposal of integrating the program to its PDLs undergoing rehabilitation.
QCJMD warden Supt. Warren M. Geronimo said the initiative aims to ensure continued support for PDLs through virtual sessions, aligning with program requirements.
“This collaboration between the jail bureau and local government units (LGUs) seeks to transform PDLs into productive individuals, facilitating their successful reintegration into society,’’ Geronimo said.
As a complementary measure, the QCJMD personnel were subjected to a “two-day annual medical and diagnostic examinations’’ to ensure the health and well-being of the jail personnel.
“The examinations covered a comprehensive range of medical assessments, including physical examinations, laboratory tests, diagnostic tests and drug tests,’’ he added.
Geronimo also emphasized the importance of medical and diagnostic examination for the QCJMD personnel, citing the help to identify potential health issues and provide necessary medication to the personnel of the QCJMD.
