Apple spices up invitations with the new Invites app

Apple has launched Invites.

It’s an app that lets you create custom invitations. You can use your own images from Photos for the background or create your own with Image Playground, Apple’s image generator.

This is only for people who have an iCloud subscription and while you can create as many events as you want, each is limited to 100 participants. So, boo, no big parties. And yes, as we’ve mentioned in a previous article, it is integrated to the Calendar app.

You and everyone will get a Shared Album where photos and videos will be kept for everyone. Huh, Shared Album, sounds familiar. There’s Apple Music integration, along with Weather and Maps.

Also, apparently, this is available for Android users as well. A clever move from Apple to persuade Android users to switch sides? Oh, the intrigue!

Android users who receive the invitation from Apple Invites, after verifying with an email, will have the option to download the file and it will be added to the Android’s own calendar app.  However, it doesn’t seem to look as pretty when looked at in an Apple device. Also, Android users won’t be able to see or upload photos and videos unless they have an iCloud account, even a free one. As far as I know, there is no iCloud app for Android, but you can access one via browser.
