First Lady Liza meets film stakeholders to find ways to boost industry

First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos urged creatives to join CineGang Inc., an initiative supporting the country’s movie industry, as she convened Filipino film industry stakeholders to discuss ways for the government to support the sector.

"We’re ready to welcome scriptwriters, directors, actors, filmmakers, and every creative soul passionate about Filipino cinema," she wrote on Instagram on Feb. 4.
"This is your space, your home, where ideas come to life and stories find their voice," she added.
First Lady Liza likewise said it was time for the world to witness the "magic of Filipino storytelling."
On its website, CineGang Inc. said it is committed to promoting, developing, and elevating local films and talents, citing the "immeasurable" joy the industry brings to Filipinos all over the world.
"It is our duty to cultivate the richness of our talent while preserving the cultural identity of Filipino storytelling and cinematography on our journey to the global stage," it said.
Meanwhile, the First Lady reiterated the government's willingness to support the local film industry.
"Exploring meaningful ways for the public and private sectors to come together in support of our film industry," she posted on Facebook.
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), which oversees the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), the meeting that took place in Makati City on Feb. 3 aimed to find ways how the government can support filmmakers.
"Sa pangunguna ni First Lady Liza Marcos, nagkaroon ng pagpupulong ang iba't ibang film industry stakeholders para sa insentibo at suporta mula sa pamahalaan at sa pamamagitan ng CineGang na isang pribadong institusyon (The First Lady convened different film industry stakeholders for the incentives and support from the government through CineGang, a private institution)," it said.
Joining the meeting were the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) led by its chairman, film director Jose Javier Reyes, and heads and representatives of different guilds that push for the welfare of Philippine cinema.
