
A 16-year-old male died after he was hit and run over by a 16-wheeler trailer truck while riding his motorcycle in Barangay San Roque, Antipolo, Rizal on Monday night, Feb. 14.
Witnesses said the victim, who hails from Taytay, Rizal, was allegedly speeding before the accident happened.
The teen reportedly lost control of his motorcycle, causing him to crash towards the opposite lane of the road. The trailer truck hit the victim and dragged him a few meters before completely stopping.
The truck driver said he failed to notice the victim and his motorcycle under his trailer truck. The truck was carrying over 36 tons of corn to be delivered to Teresa, Rizal.
Based on the initial police report, the victim was on his way home after coming from a gathering with his friends.
The suspect apologized to the victim's family after the accident. He is currently detained at the Antipolo Component City Police Station custodial facility.
The truck driver is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property and homicide.
