Parañaque City Representative Edwin Olivarez has warned the public about the growing issue of a fake Facebook account impersonating him, which could be used for scams.
Olivarez said fraudulent profiles are repeatedly posing as his official page to deceive followers into sharing personal information, making payments, or falling victim to scams.
The congressman issued guidelines to help the public avoid falling victim to fake Facebook accounts using his name and to ensure their safety. He urged everyone to always verify the authenticity of the social media page before engaging with it.
He also advised the public to be cautious of unsolicited messages or offers from accounts claiming to be him. Additionally, he encouraged people to report suspicious profiles to Facebook immediately.
Olivarez emphasized that the safety of residents is his priority and advised them to stay vigilant and informed to prevent online scams.
