The league-leading Seoul SK Knights sent the Changwon LG Sakers crashing back to earth with a 78-70 win in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) Monday, Feb. 3.

The Knights overcame a measly start then triggered a timely assault led by Jameel Warney in the final period to seize a 76-65 advantage which they preserved until the end to break the Sakers’ seven-game winning run.
Warney was monstrous on both ends, firing 25 points and hauling down 17 rebounds on top six assists, one steal and one block while An Young-Jun and Kim Sun-Hyung added 18 and 15 points, respectively.
Carl Tamayo, meanwhile, registered seven points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal for Changwon. Assem Marei and Seong-Hyun Jeon topscored with 19 each.
It was Tamayo’s first single-digit scoring output after listing double figures in their last three games since his 7-point showing in their 67-62 win over the Goyang Skygunners last Jan. 23.
With the victory, the Knights improved to a 28-7 win-loss record while the Sakers stayed in third place holding a 21-14 card.
Changwon took the tempo early, securing a 13-point lead off Marei’s two straight baskets, 20-7.
Though it was swiftly relinquished as Seoul roared back in the second quarter where they dropped a 26-5 bomb that eventually led them to a 33-25 advantage.
But things went ugly for the Sakers in the second half with the Knights finding ways to turn the tables and overcome the lead.
