An academic discussion with the subject Political Dynasties and the Northern Luzon Perspective will be held on Feb. 10 at the Saint Louis University in Baguio City.

Main speaker Baguio City Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong will delve on the theme “Daton Wenno Dusa” (Boon or Bane).
Other speakers are former Constitutional Commission member and Comelec Commissioner Rene V. Sarmiento and academe luminaries from the University of the Philippines Profs. Gwen B. Grecia-de Vera and Dr. Estifania A. Co.
A similar symposium was held last April at the UP Law Center.
A group of lawyers from the UP College of Law Class of 1976 – Wilfredo Trinidad, Rico Domingo, Ceasar Oracion, and Jorge Cabildo – filed a petition for mandamus with the Supreme Court seeking to compel Congress to comply with its mandated duty under Article II, Section 26 of the Constitution to enact a law prohibiting political dynasties.
The petition filed last March urges Congress to pass an anti-dynasty law 37 years after the 1987 Constitution was promulgated.
The discussion will be conducted under the Saint Louis University School of Law led by its Dean Yasmine Lee R. Tadeo.
