LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – The Police Regional Office-5 seized shabu and marijuana valued at over P17 million in the Bicol region in January.

PRO-5 chief Police Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said they confiscated P17,274,637.28 worth of illegal drugs in 119 anti-drug operations and apprehended 120 suspected drug pushers – 20 high-value and 100 street-level individuals.
Recovered from them were 2.5 kilos of shabu and 52.60 grams of marijuana.
Albay had the highest value at P6,152,736.40, followed by Naga City with P4,484,960; Camarines Sur with P3,778,551.68; Camarines Norte with P2,368,929.60; Masbate with P397,80; Sorsogon with P91,340, and Catanduanes with P319.60.
"Beyond law enforcement operations, PRO-5 has also placed significant emphasis on preventive measures and community engagement. The unit has strengthened its information campaigns by educating the public about the dangers and consequences of illegal drug use. Additionally, PRO-5 has leveraged social media platforms to amplify awareness efforts, reaching a broader audience and encouraging community participation in the fight against illegal drugs," Dizon said.
Dizon reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining the momentum of its anti-drug campaign.
“We will not rest until every community in the Bicol region is free from the grip of illegal drugs. Our mission is clear, to safeguard our people, protect our future, and uphold justice with unwavering determination,” he said.
