BACOLOD CITY – Talisay City, Negros Occidental Mayor Neil Lizares is alarmed by the land dispute in Hacienda San Antonio Dos, Barangay Dos Hermanas, Talisay City.
A video of the incident recently went viral on social media.

Lizares said that he has seen the viral video and considered the incident as alarming and unacceptable.
“I have always been clear on my stand that I do not and will not tolerate any kind of violence against any Talisaynons,” Lizares said.
Lizares said that he has ordered a full-blown investigation on the incident so that legal steps may be properly taken.
The video showed an alleged security guard firing a shot in front of a woman who was taking a video of the situation in the area. Nobody was harmed.
Tensions flared in the area when security guards hired by a private individual through a Cebu-based security agency were deployed. Residents who claimed to be awardees of the Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) expressed concern.
Lizares said that police are closely monitoring the situation and have been alerted to prevent the conflict from escalating.
“I am getting real time updates on this urgent matter until resolved,” he added. Lizares noted that he always promotes resolving legal issues in a legal and peaceful manner.
Lizares urged the people of Talisay to respect and value life. “No kind of violence can ever be justified. Conflicts of any kind can be resolved peacefully and legally,” he said.
