NCRPO arrests over 2,700 wanted persons

Operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) arrested a total of 2,703 wanted persons since the change of leadership in the regional police force on Nov. 23 last year up to Jan. 31 this year.

Of those arrested, NCRPO director Brig. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin said 1,209 of them were classified as 1,209 Most Wanted Persons (MWPs)— two of them were high-profile fugitives, including a 19-year old man listed in the Metro Manila police’s Regional Most Wanted Personfor his link to a high-profile criminal case.

“This milestone is not just a statistics—it is a testament to the NCRPO’s uncompromising pursuit of justice, proving that no fugitive can outrun the law when backed by precision, intelligence, and unwavering commitment to public safety,” said Aberin.

After assuming the top NCRPO post, Aberin ordered the conduct of aggressive police operations to account for wanted persons, as well as the strict implementation of local ordinances in Metro Manila.

For January 2025, the NCRPO recorded almost 20 percent decline in index crimes which cover cases of murder, homicide, rape, physical injuries, robbery, theft and carnapping.

“NCRPO’s message is crystal clear: Metro Manila will not be a safe haven for those who continuously evade the law. We shall exhaust all resources to hunt fugitives and we will explore all legal options to bring justice to all victims of crimes and their families,” said Aberin.

“The fight against criminality does not rest, and the NCRPO will not falter. Every arrest is a step closer to a safer city, and every fugitive caught is a victory for the people,” he added.

Aberin took over the NCRPO in November last year after the relief of his predecessor amid investigation on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) raid.
