City Engr. Loben Rafael Ceballos said that the project will cost P10 million and will occupy about 2,000-square meters in a 1.6-hectare property intended for the City Veterinary Office (CVO) in a 17-hectare lot in Barangay Granada acquired by the city through a land banking initiative.
He said that the design has been finalized and pending approval by Mayor Albee Benitez.
Ceballos hopes that the project will begin by March before the election spending ban.
Funding is included in a P525-million loan realigned by the city for other projects.
The loan was originally intended for the rehabilitation of the Burgos Public Market but did not prosper due to strong opposition from majority of vendors.
Last year, the CVO renovated the dog pound in Barangay 35 that can only accommodate limited number of animals.
