Scattered rains to affect E. Visayas, Mindanao; fair weather to prevail in the rest of PH

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday, Feb. 28 said scattered rains may continue in parts of Eastern Visayas and Mindanao, while the rest of the country will experience fair weather with isolated rain showers over the next 24 hours.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Mindanao, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Southern Leyte.

He advised residents in these areas to be alert for possible flash floods or landslides due to the high chance of moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Badrina said the northeast monsoon, or amihan, has slightly weakened and may only bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, particularly in the afternoon or evening, over Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzon.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
