Lacson fears that 'substandard' materials were used on Cabagan-Santa Maria bridge

Administration senatorial candidate Panfilo "Ping" Lacson suspects that "substandard" or weak materials may have been used on the Cabagan-Santa Maria Bridge in Isabela.

Lacson expressed this fear Friday, Feb. 28 during the press conference of the Alansya para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate at Hotel Savano in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.

"I don’t want to preempt whatever investigation is being or will be conducted, pero malamang sa hindi, substandard ang materials (but it's highly probably that the materials are substandard)," said the former senator.

A portion of the P1.225-billion bridge collapsed on Thursday.

Lacson, who is on the comeback trail to the upper chamber, stressed the importance of holding people accountable over the incident,

"So hangga’t walang nakukulong na mga responsible, walang nako-convict at nakukulong, di ito matitigil. This is not the first time and this won’t be the last na mangyayari yan (This won't stop unless the responsible people are convicted and jailed. This is not the first time and this won’t be the last that it will happen)," he said.

"At sana huwag maraming masasaktan o mamamatay sa aksidenteng gawa ng kalokohan ng accountable at responsible sa ganong klaseng infrastructure projects (And I hope those accountable and responsible for these infrastructure projects won't end up claiming that many lives because of their shenanigans)," Lacson said.
