The Taytay Police have debunked claims of an alleged kidnapping of a teenage girl in Barangay Muzon in Taytay, Rizal, that has since gone viral on social media.
According to the police, the said social media post says that a 16 year-old girl was forcibly taken by five men into their car along Barangay Muzon and dropped her somewhere in Manila after she begged them to let her go.
It was reported to the police by a man that his daughter, who has been missing and couldn't be contacted, was able to provide information that she was under the custody of the police in Manila.
Upon taking her under custody, the Taytay Police, together with her father, asked the girl where she said she was abducted for the police to be able to start their investigation on her alleged kidnapping.
"Masuwerteng mayroong nakatutok na high-quality CCTV sa mismong lugar na itinuturo ng dalagita, kaya kaagad na na-playback ito kaharap ang kanyang ama, ang dalagita at mga kapulisan, at base sa pagbabacktracking na ginawa ng ating kapulisan, napag-alaman po na walang ganoong insidente sa parehas na oras, araw at lugar na tumataliwas sa salaysay ng dalagita (Luckily, a high-quality CCTV camera was installed where she said she was abducted, prompting the police, together with the girl and her father, to review the CCTV footage of her alleged kidnapping. Upon review and backtracking conducted by the police, it was confirmed that there was no kidnapping that happened on the time, date, and place where the girl says she was abducted)," the Taytay Police Station said.
"Sa ngayon, hindi nais ng ama na magsampa ng kaso bagkus mas gusto nitong mas pagtuunan ang kapakanan ng kanyang anak. Patuloy ang pag-alalay ng ating kapulisan sa kaanak ng dalagita at pagmumungkahi ng paunang hakbang na pagsailalim sa counseling mula sa isang lisensyadong social worker ng Bayan ng Taytay, Rizal (The teen's father said he would not file charges, and instead, said that he would like to focus on his daughter's welfare. The police continues to provide aid to the teenager's family by urging them to undergo counseling from a licensed social worker here in Taytay, Rizal)," it added.
