The agency has  requested the Bureau of Design and Bureau of Construction  at the Central Office in Manila to conduct further evaluation and assessment of the bridge.

A statement from the DPWH-Region 2 said the third span from Cabagan side with a length of 60 meters  collapsed when a dump truck carrying boulders with a calculated approximate gross vehicle weight of around 102 tons passed.

The construction of the bridge started on November 2014 and completed over 10 years later on Feb. 1, 2025 with a total cost of P1,225,537,087.92.

The bridge is 990 meters long and consists of 12 arches with a span of 60 meters each and nine spans of Pre-Stressed Concrete Girder (PSCG) Type IVB. The total length of approaches is 664.10 linear meters.

Contractor of the bridge is R.D. Interior Jr. Construction.

Isabela Gov. Rodito Albano urged the public to wait for the results of the investigation.

Albano said he will approach President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to seek immediate assistance for the repair of the bridge.

Six persons onboard four vehicles were injured when the bridge collapsed. The governor is currently monitoring  their condition.
