DAY6 finishes ‘Forever Young’ concert in Manila: ‘You guys were amazing’

Korean pop rock band DAY6 returned to Manila for their concert after more than five years.

DAY6 held their “Forever Young” world tour on Feb. 22 at the Araneta Coliseum, the same venue where they held their “Gravity” world tour in November 2019.

Members Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon created a rich performance by singing their hit songs including “You Were Beautiful,” “Letting Go,” “Congratulations,” “Happy” and “Zombie.”

Success in 2024

DAY6’s Manila concert came following their success in 2024.

They released their mini-album “Band Aid’ in September last year. Through the album, DAY6 achieved No. 1 on the music chart Melon Top 100 immediately after release, the first time that it happened since their debut. They also topped the Melon daily chart.

DAY6 won their first terrestrial TV music show win on “Show! Music Core” since debut in September last year.

Last October, DAY6 received the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation at the 2024 Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards.

In November at the 2024 Korea Grand Music Awards, DAY6 won the grand prize (“daesang”) for Grand Performer, the first time that they received the award. They also won Best Band and Best Song 10.

At the 9th Asia Artist Awards held in Bangkok, Thailand, DAY6 bagged the grand prize for Album of the Year for “Fourever,” Best Band and Best Artist.

After a fan video was shown, Sungjin told fans, “You’re the one who makes us exist and we’ll do our best to let you guys love us.”

Wonpil said, “After performing on stage and see you guys smile, sing along, those kind of energy that you gave us really filled me and energized me a lot.”

“Today was a very happy day for me. You guys are the oxygen for us. We’ll keep on making music and you’ll be by our side, okay?” said Dowoon.

Young K said when he came to the soundcheck, “that’s when I knew ‘know what, I’m gonna do just fine.’ The amount of energy that we got tonight, it was legendary. You guys were amazing. I was awed. I was shocked. Each and everyone of you are amazing. We wanna come back.”

DAY6 will continue the tour in Daejeon on March 2 and 3, Gwangju on March 15 and 16, Daegu on March 29 and 30, Sydney on April 6 and 7, Melbourne on April 9, Auckland, New Zealand April 12, Los Angeles on April 16 and 17, New York April 19, Yokohama April 26 and 27, and Jakarta on May 3.
