A Thai national was discovered floating in Manila Bay in Ermita, Manila, on Wednesday night, Feb. 27.
The body was positively identified by the Royal Thai Embassy as that of Chakhon Khumphaitun, a 24-year-old from Bangkok, Thailand.
He was reportedly staying at the Royal Thai Embassy in Legaspi Village, Makati City.
According to PCMS Dennis Suba of the Manila Police District homicide section, a sling bag containing the victim's passport and personal belongings was initially found on the seawall and turned over to the Royal Thai Embassy at 7 a.m.
The body was found afloat in the seawall area at around 4:30 p.m. the same day.
The Embassy confirmed that the photograph on the surrendered passport matched the body found at the scene.
There were no visible injuries on the victim’s body, and he was still wearing a gold necklace when discovered by Bodor Manampen.
The remains were transported to the Body and Light Funeral Home for autopsy and safekeeping.
