In a move to strengthen healthcare support for people living with HIV (PLHIV), the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has expanded its Outpatient HIV/AIDS Treatment (OHAT) package, raising annual benefits to P58,500.
The state health insurer said that the enhanced Outpatient HIV/AIDS Treatment (OHAT) package reflects a 95 percent increase from the previous P30,000 coverage.
According to PhilHealth, the improved package includes antiretroviral therapy (ART) for all individuals with confirmed positive HIV test results from certified institutions, regardless of their clinical or immunologic status.
Such ensures access to all essential services necessary for effective HIV management, it added.
The OHAT Package is available at 234 PhilHealth-accredited HIV Treatment facilities designated by the Department of Health (DOH) nationwide, the state health insurer said.
The improved benefits seek to encourage PLHIV members to seek appropriate treatment while also promoting regular testing among other PhilHealth members.
PhilHealth reminded members that its separate TB-DOTS package can be reimbursed at accredited TB-DOTS facilities.
It noted that members may avail themselves of both the OHAT and TB-DOTS packages simultaneously.
PhilHealth said the increase in benefits aligns with the directive of President Marcos to continuously improve healthcare benefits and provide sufficient financial support to patients seeking treatment.
In 2024, PhilHealth disbursed P1.66 billion for 176,819 OHAT Package benefit claims.
