Korean actor Seo In-guk named celebrity Boracay ambassador

ILOILO CITY – Amid controversies faced by Boracay Island, Korean actor and singer-songwriter Seo In-guk visited the resort-island as the country’s new celebrity tourism ambassador.

“He immerses himself in the breathtaking beauty of Boracay Island,” said the Department of Tourism-6 (Western Visayas) on Thursday, Feb. 27.

Seo visited Boracay less than a week after he signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco as the country’s tourism ambassador for South Korea.

His country used to be one of the top visitors of Boracay.

The DOT said he had several activities in Boracay, including an early morning golf. He also experienced the tourist-favorite crystal kayak activity on the shore of Station 1.

He held a tour onboard a yacht and found time to interact with Filipino fans who spotted him.

The actor and singer ate popular Filipino food, including sisig and sinigang.

The visit is seen to promote Boracay which recorded a slump in foreign tourist arrivals last year.
