Give DOTr chief Dizon time to study PH transport issues, Palace says
Malacañang asked the public to give new Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon more time to study several concerns and programs of the country's transport sector.

Palace plead to the public amid few directives Dizon made upon assuming the post at the DOTr such as the suspension of cashless payment on expressways, asking DOTr officials to submit courtesy resignations, and him calling the issues surrounding the public transport modernization program (PTMP) as "complicated."
"[N]gayon pa lang po ay katatalaga ni Secretary Vince Dizon, so dapat po rin natin siyang bigyan ng pagkakataon para aralin po ito. May mga issues po, especially sabi nga niya po ay kailangan nating gawing perpekto iyong expressway system natin (Secretary Vince Dizon was just appointed, so we need to give him a chance to study this. There are issues, especially he said we need to make the expressway system perfect)," Palace press officer Claire Castro said in a briefing on Thursday, Feb. 27.
"So, pagbigyan po muna natin ang ating bagong appointed, newly appointed secretary of DOTr, Vince Dizon, at kapag po ito ay kaniyang naaral ay maaari po siyang magbigay ng report kung kinakailangan talaga ay hundred percent na dito sa expressway payment, cashless expressway payment (So, let's give our newly appointed secretary of DOTr, Vince Dizon, a chance and when he is able to study this, he will be able to provide a report it there really is a need to make the cashless payment on expressways hundred percent)," Castro added.
The Palace official said Dizon is set to give the President his assessment report regarding the cashless payment on expressways after looking into the issue.
The new DOTR secretary will also look into details and concerns about the PUV modernization program.
Castro made an assurance that Dizon is not ignoring the need for modernization, and that he will determine areas for negotiations related to the PUV modernization effort.
"So, mas maganda po na tingnan po muna natin kung ano ang kaniyang magiging aksiyon. Bigyan po natin siya ng tamang panahon para maaral ito. Mahirap po kasi—Ngayon, ilang araw na po ba siya? Two weeks? Parang ganoon pa lang po ‘no. So, hayaan po natin muna maaral at saka po siya magbigay ng kaniyang assessment at evaluation sa Pangulo (So, it is better to wait and see for actions he would take. Let us give him ample time to study this. He's just about two weeks in to his appointment. So, let's allow him to study this and provide the President his assessment and evaluation)," Castro said.
Marcos appointed Dizon as the new DOTr secretary on Feb. 13. He replaced former transportation chief Jaime Bautista who resigned to “give attention to his health."
He officially assumed the helm of the DOTr on Friday, Feb. 21.
