CEBU CITY – Gov. Aris Aumentado led the groundbreaking ceremony for SM City Tagbilaran in Tagbilaran City, Bohol on Thursday, Feb. 27.

The provincial government welcomed the construction of SM City Tagbilaran, a commercial development that is seen to spark economic activities and employment opportunities.
The entry of the first-ever SM mall in Bohol reaffirms the capitol’s dedication to promoting additional investments as part of the Strategic Change Agenda, said Aumentado.
“This groundbreaking ceremony is a strong proof that we are serious on our promise of providing an environment where businesses can prosper and jobseekers can find careers closer to their loved ones,” Aumentado said.
The governor added that the arrival of SM will bring more progress, making Bohol a premier investment destination.
Steven Tan, president of SM Supermalls, emphasized the mall’s dedication to highlighting Bohol’s unique cultural identity while integrating harmoniously with the local environment and community.
Tan highlighted that the 60,000-square-meter development serves as a basis for growth, emphasizing sustainability through eco-friendly features.
He emphasized SM Supermalls' commitment to local hiring and create significant job opportunities from construction to mall operations.
Tan also stated that SM City Tagbilaran aims to support the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by offering platforms for local entrepreneurs to succeed.
