Japan is hiring 300 caregivers, 50 nurses

Filipino nurses and caregivers can seek employment opportunities in Japan following Tokyo’s announcement that it had opened applications for 50 nurses and 300 careworkers.

The Japanese Embassy in Manila, in a statement, said that “recruitment is now ongoing for the forthcoming batch of candidates for nurse and certified careworker.”
 

This would be under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA).
 

The applications for 50 nurses of kangoshi and 300 careworkers or kaigofukushishi positions will be processed by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) of the Philippines in cooperation with the Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services (JICWELS).
 

Qualified nurses should be a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing with an active Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) license, a minimum of three years work experience in hospital, clinic, or health center, and must be committed and motivated to work and study in Japan as a “kangoshi” to obtain a National License.
 

For careworkers, the qualifications are as follows: graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing with or without a PRC license, graduate of a four-year course but with National Certificate II
 

in Caregiving (NC II) from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and must be motivated and committed to work and study in Japan as a candidate for “kaigofukushishi” to obtain a National License.
 

According to the embassy, accepted candidates will be required to undergo Japanese language training for six months in the Philippines and six months in Japan.
 

This would be free of charge and a daily living allowance will also be provided for the duration of the training.
 

After which, they would be eligible to three to four years of work term at Japanese hospitals and caregiving facilities.
 

“Candidates are encouraged to eventually obtain the Japanese license for Kangoshi and Kaigofukushishi to give them the opportunity for a longer employment term in Japan,” the embassy said.
 

Applicants must submit their documents—detailed resume with recent 2x2 ID picture and clear photocopies of their transcript of records, college diploma, updated Certificate of Employment, Japanese Language Training Certificate (if available), valid TESDA certificate (if not a BS Nursing graduate), valid passport, valid clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation, PEOS certificate, and printed copy of Workers Information Sheet/e-Registration—to the DMW Regional Offices or Central Office.
 

The deadline for the submission of applications is on April 4 for central and regional offices.
