Actor Gabby Concepcion expressed disbelief that time has flown by so quickly and that his eldest daughter, actress KC Concepcion, with Megastar Sharon Cuneta, is turning 40 this year.
During a meet and greet event sponsored by mWell app in Morato, Quezon City, on Feb. 25, Gabby said KC remains a baby in his heart and mind.
"Akala ko nga 20 palang siya eh. May nagtatanong,'Ilang tao na siya? Sabi ko mga 21, 22? So nagko-compute sila. Hindi ko siya tinitignan na ganung age. Tingin ko sa kanya para pa rin siyang 10 years old. I don't think they ever grow up in your mind. She will always be my baby," said Gabby when asked about KC turning 40 in April this year.
On KC's birthday celebration, Gabby said: "Wala naman siyang binabanggit eh. Pero madalas sinasabi niya let's go to Lobo, Batangas. Quality time."
KC is still single, although she has dated other men. Gabby even recalled one of the guys who courted his daughter and gave him a perfect score for being very respectful.
"If you love somebody, you know, loving is part of life, you need to feel that. If you don't, then medyo iba ka. It would be good for you to have that feeling. That's all part of the cycle. If the guy loves you more than you do, for me that's better. Two-way ang love, eh. I don't know what your relationship is with the guy, but whatever it is, enjoy the moment. Always be happy.
"Hindi naman ako nililigawan pero sometimes parents ang nililigawan. It would be nice kung yung guy magalang. Ang sarap ng feeling kapag nililigawan ka rin. Hundred points ang batang ito.
"Good morning sir! I want you to know I'm going out with your daughter. Ohhh! Good for her. Hundred points ito. Okay ito. Ganun!
"Pero kung ako nama siyempre nahihiya rin ako manligaw sa parents niya. But once na magkaroon din ako ng chance na makaharap sila (parents), I'll find the courage to tell her father the same way. Pagnakilala mo naman (ang parents) siyempre humble ka.
"Advise ko lang sa mga guys, 'Kapag sinabi n'yo yan sa mga father ng nililigawan ninyo, hundreds points kayo," said Gabby.
Asked if he had given 100 points among those who courted KC, Gabby said: Meron! Oo! Non-showbiz."
When the media believed Gabby was referring to the guy from the sports industry, Gabby smiled. He did not identify the guy. "Mabait siya. Sana all. Sana lahat ng lumiligaw sa anak mo ganun. Malilito ka ngayon kapag lahat will tell you that. But I think that's one of the secrets (sa panliligaw)."
Gabby added: "I want them to feel relaxed with me so that they can care for my children."
This year, Gabby said that he would be focused on making another TV series for GMA until November.
"Hindi ko na alam kung matutuloy pa yung mga concert namin kasi magsisimula na uli ako ng bagong teleserye sa GMA. I will be busy hanggang November," the actor said.
On keeping himself healthy, Gabby said: "Vitamin C tuloy-tuloy yan. May vitamins din for nerves. Then I get Omega 3 from fish, not sa capsules. Collagen naman I get from animals. Vitamin D naman from morning sun. So a little bit of everything siguro."
Gabby, who has kept his matinee idol appearance well into his 60s, added, “Good health is very important in my various roles on and off screen. That’s why I stay physically active, eat healthy, get enough sleep, and find time to relax."
His commitment to fitness and health is evident in his youthful appearance, which he is able to maintain through strength training, taking regular walks, and diving. “Good thing I have my mWell app. It allows me to easily check my physical health score daily and other health metrics. Having a home away from the city helps me relieve stress. Playing with my kids, cooking for my family, fishing and even doing a bit of farming also keep me young."
He is part of mWell’s ‘Healthy is the New Handsome’ campaign which redefines the ordinary standard of attractiveness. Beyond physical looks, it aims to put a value on being healthy both in the mind and in the body as it presents how overall well-being manifests across ideal men from different age groups.
